Nyonya needlework is created with gold threads, silk floss, and tiny beads, nyonya needlework is typically associated with peranakan chinese women, it is one of the distinctive features of peranakan chinese culture.

Marine Ky's intricate work 'Setting Off' traces the history of Asian pattern-making by incorporating examples of Peranakan lace and embroidery patterns from all over the region—Cambodia, China, Hong Kong and Korea—into delicate etchings over Khmer motifs, bringing to light the multiple layers of aesthetic influence in the two cultures.

the largest example of Peranakan
beadwork known.the design depicts a variety of European and South American birds and flowers, as well as few Asian species.
